Purakal Cylinder supplied the cylinders that power the Bascule Bridge which spans the Miami River in Miami, Florida.
Bosch/Rexroth and Kiewit Southern turned to us to provide the highest quality cylinders to power the rising sections of the bridge.
The sixteen cylinders are installed work in pairs to raise the two opposite roadways of the bridge. Each single cylinder is capable of doing the necessary work to raise the bridge, but by arranging them in pairs, maintenance becomes easier and safety is improved.
This is an example of how we work closely with partners to provide custom hydraulic solutions for large and difficult projects.

Large Scale Repair Job for Los Angeles Department of Water and Power

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power turned to Purakal Cylinders when they needed to refurbish the servo motor cylinders that control water flow into the electric producing turbines at the Castaic Power Plant.
Castaic Power Plant is one of California's few pump-storage plants: creating power during the day when demand is highest, then pumping the water uphill at night for reuse.
We were tasked with refurbishing the large bore cylinders on two Voith Servomotors. The job was both challenging and demanding but we met our customer needs and proud of the job we did.
We have a proud history of meeting the challenging needs of our customers with large scaled projects and needs. Castaic Power Plant is another example of our ability to meet and exceed these needs.
